A new video produced by Extinction Rebellion and narrated by Keira Knightley has been released asking people to reflect on the climate emergency.

Using animation, it picks out the consequences of climate change and the devastation it will cause should we not act soon, warning of “societal collapse“. This is a very real prospect given the risks of food scarcity caused by drought and natural disasters.
“…why didn’t you stop this, when you still could?”

The world is warming at an unprecedented rate, releasing pockets of methane at a disturbing pace due to the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation and thawing ice sheets that have trapped these ancient gases for centuries. As a consequence, the world is now “…1 Celsius warmer than it was a century ago…” the video warns. It continues, “…why didn’t you stop this, when you still could?”
Extinction Rebellion have planned demonstrations this weekend, and for the upcoming bank holiday Monday.
