A conversation between the late David Bowie and composer Ryuichi Sakamoto is to be aired on NTS radio on New Years Day.
Originally broadcast on NHK (Japan’s national broadcaster) in 1983, it will be re-aired on NTS radio. The conversation took place the same year movie Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, which both artists worked on, was released.
In the late ’70s, Sakamoto co-founded the group Yellow Magic Orchestra which is considered one of the most important electronic music groups.
The conversation is one of 3 broadcasts, one which will feature writer Haruki Murakami. Due to licencing issues, they will not be archived on NTS’ site so be sure to catch it.
