Black Lives Matter activist Sasha Johnson is in critical condition following a shooting in London.
The BLM activist, Sasha Johnson, 27 was hospitalized for gun shot wounds in south London following an incident at party. She is now in intensive care.
Miss Johnson sustained a gun shot wound to the head in an incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday following death threats the campaigner had received.
Her group ‘Taking the initiative party‘ released a statement:
“It is with great sadness that we inform you that our own Sasha Johnson has sustained a gunshot wound to her head. She is currently hospitalised and in critical condition. The incident happened in the early hours of this morning, following numerous death threats. Sasha has always been actively fighting for black people and the injustices that surround the black community, as well as being both a member of BLM and a member of Taking the Initiative Party’s Executive Leadership Committee. Sasha is also a mother of 3 and a strong, powerful voice for our people and our community.”
The Metropolitan Police said there is no evidence to suggest it had been a targeted attack despite Miss Johnson’s group ‘Taking the initiative party’ saying in a statement she had received several death threats.
The Met said they’re “pursuing a number of priority lines of enquiry”.
Miss Johnson’s friends said she has received successful surgery and is now with joined by her parents.
