The singer returns with a strummy mix of sunkissed visuals.
To the tune of a work that comes just in time for summer, Lorde returns to offload the culmination of her time in the studio and away from the limelight.
Her latest work confidently lets out a string of lyrics that reflect what she’s learnt from hiatus vocalising “Lead the boys and girls onto the beaches/ Come one, come all, I’ll tell you my secrets”.
The singer said in a newsletter: “I started going back to the studio in December, just for something to do, and to my surprise, good things came out…”
“The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalising the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors,”…“In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I’ve learnt to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through.”
“I want this album to be your summer companion, the one you pump on the drive to the beach. The one that lingers on your skin like a tan as the months get cooler again.”
‘Solar Power‘ is the lead single from her upcoming album of the same name with a release date to be announced.
The video (below) is directed by herself and Joel Kefali which opens up to her lounging on a beach before springing into action surrounded by beach-goers as she explores what everyone is doing all around.
Referencing the cover art, Lorde said: “It’s a specific experience thinking about everyone in your life seeing your butt. I have no regrets. I love this cover and am happy for this to be how people see my butt.
