The billionaire said a prototype robot will be available “next year”.
The Tesla company headed by billionaire Elon Musk, is developing a humanoid robot.
Musk said the bot is designed to carry out tasks of a “boring, repetitious and dangerous” nature.
It is still yet to be revealed the extent of how far Tesla has come in developing the faux human, as the event was led by video.
Musk has a history of hype at initial product launches, but this time around, it could cause more harm than good.
At Tesla’s AI day event he said that there will be “profound implications for the economy” and that the product will fill shortfalls in labour. But this could be more trouble than for the betterment of humankind.
Robots replacing human labour has always been a concern of both the public and politicians. This announcement takes us one step closer to realising the consequences of such a move.
Blended with the rise of AI, there could be more room for complications should advancements in technology thrive under military weapons developers.
Limits should be placed on how and what it can be used for. Politicians will no doubt debate the subject as it comes closer to fruition. Though talks should begin now.
