More than 50 Dead In Latest Toll From Flooding

The fallout from a storm that hit New York has taken more than 50 lives.

The north-east suffered a horrific fallout from monsoon rains and tornadoes that ripped through homes, offices and infrastructure.

In a speech, President Joe Biden did not hold back as to the causes, remarking:

“The past few days of Hurricane Ida and the wildfires in the west and the unprecedented flash floods in New York and New Jersey is yet another reminder that these extreme storms and the climate crisis are here.”…”We must better prepare. We need to act,” before concluding with a stark warning – “It’s a matter of life and death, and we’re all in it together.”

More than 50 people have died across the United States in an event that has caused millions of dollars worth of damage.

Climate scientist Michael E Mann commented on the situation saying – “Is this finally the moment we wake up to the climate crisis?” before sharing an article by CNN on the statement.

For the last two weeks, climate activists have taken over much of central London attempting to raise awareness of the situation.

Most of the world is in the red with developing nations at most risk of ecological threats that are set to displace more than 1.2 billion people by 2050. In 2019 alone nearly 25 million people were displaced across 140 counties according to UNHCR.
