‘Visions’ by Jose Gonzalez shows limits to the musician’s capabilities

The master of guitar and folk related theme turns in an intriguing ear companion that douses the senses in guitar speak.

More single than EP, Visions is filled with reasonably good remixes that make up for a stale vocalisation rendered on the opening version (Flanger).

For the most part, the components of Gonzalez’s latest release are uninspired, and perhaps he should reconsider what is placed on it. The original version, (strangely last on the track list, but I appreciate the creativity), tries it’s best to remedy prior ideas for delivery though undeserving of promotional single status.

Overall, Visions is a satisfactory outing that loses memorability through one or two missteps in performance. That doesn’t mean Mr Gonzalez should be deprived his status as a leader in the acoustic/singer-songwriter realm though, especially as his guitar work remains flawless. Let’s hope he has more up his sleeve.
