Dave and Central Cee | Split Decision | EP Review

Dull and un-incredible – Split Decision fails to ignite any sort of excitement.

VERDICT:

Rating: 2 out of 5.

Despite an interesting idea, the pairing of both Central Cee and Dave remains likely to be received as a cash grab and as uninspiring as its promo single. The outcome? As the title teases, the EP was most likely decided via a split decision over drinks to raise the profiles of both artists.

But having bought into the idea like mugs, here we are, talking about junk again. Without much difference from its prior attempts to garner the interest of rap intellectuals, it will most likely remain a soft venture into the catacombs of humdrum music.

Few bars inspire the sort of hype the two are being turned towards. There are some gems on occasion, but most of the content is filler at best with lines that include: “Money, h*es, clothes, I got plenty of kicks in my dresser”.

Final thoughts

While Dave retains his sense of intrigue from both fans of the genre and those outside of it, one poor choice in collaboration with Cee veers him away from the sort of credibility he has. Though, a feature perhaps is forgivable, an entire EP is boggling.

Any bravado that stalks this EP falls to brittle bones under the microscope as delivery from both MCs feels more caricatured than serious.
