Charges pending for police officer in Chris Kaba murder probe.
Chris Kaba was shot dead in South London last year following a Metropolitan Police operation in Streatham in 2022.
The police officer in question, who cannot be named for legal reasons is to be charged with murder following an investigation into the incident at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

On September 5th 2022, Chris Kaba was blocked by a marked vehicle after police gave chase. He was unarmed and shot once at approximately 23:00 after turning into Kirkstall Gardens. He was pronounced dead the following day.
In a joint statement, the family of Mr Kaba said: “Chris was so very loved by our family and all his friends. He had a bright future ahead of him, but his life was cut short. Our family and our wider community must see justice for Chris.”
Daniel Machover of Hickman & Rose, who represent the Kaba family reflected on the decision: “We welcome this charging decision, which could not have come too soon. Now we await the trial of the firearms officer without delay and hope and pray that justice will be served.”
“Over the past year, Chris’ family have shown extraordinary dignity and strength as they have demanded answers about how Chris was killed, and sought justice and accountability for him.”
According to INQUEST, only one prosecution has been made following 1,870 deaths in custody and/or contact with the police.
