Thanks to a Royal Rumble-esque music scene, it’s difficult to discover music that sits well with hip-hop purists (like myself) but on occasion, something emerges unexpectedly.
Incisive has been crushing the scene for some time, with his skill and flow courting listeners from a wide range of musical tastes; recently he is beginning to be heard by more than just those within the genre.
‘How You Feel‘ showcases how our protagonist leads the craft of insightful rhyme on a topic that hasn’t received as much press as it should in recent times. In an Instagram post, the rapper said: “This record is a PSA to our young kings and queens growing up. Have a listen. Take it in. Share. Add to your personal playlists. Play it to those who might need to hear it. All that all that.”
As the artist traverses the song’s 00s-style production, it is evident that his delivery and technique provide a tailwind to the single’s execution. Gracing the beat with liquid form, he leaves a synesthetic experience in its wake, further magnified by its poignant subject matter. If you listen to his back catalogue, you’ll understand why many can’t wait to hear more.
