Big Sean’s “Yes” Is A Low-Effort Entry In Hip-Hop

The Chicago-based rapper begins preparations for new album with a promotional single.

Void of any distinct flow, we are still asking how Big Sean (real name Sean Anderson) fits into the hip-hop scene. With nothing tangible to take away from much of his work aside from the fact it sounds – okay.

“Yes” is the new single, but what’s it like?

Yes” is the new song taken from his upcoming album “Better Me Than You,” a project that was recently leaked, forcing Anderson to drop new work to fend off further seepage.

Filled with mediocre production value and vocals that fail to hold beyond mediocrity itself, there’s little to be positive about. If the album is better than this, this was the wrong track to pick as a promo. And with little else to gauge from, it doesn’t look good for the Chicago man.

Talking about his soon to drop LP, the rapper said: “The 𝙋𝙍𝙀𝙎𝙎𝙐𝙍𝙀 of life (being a new Dad, being an artist that’s growing, being a human in development etc.) and embracing it all led me to a lot of 𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐘 on what I needed to 𝐅𝐎𝐂𝐔𝐒 on to find a piece of 𝑯𝑨𝑷𝑷𝑰𝑵𝑬𝑺𝑺,”

Maybe Sean is simply making music that he loves, and that just so happens to be this rather than fitting into a boxed category. There’s an audience for everything, but unfortunately, it feels like rap lovers aren’t biting. Judge for yourself below.
