Lebanon Ceasefire Hampered By Israeli Invasion Plans

Israel’s bombing of Gaza and Lebanon has caused alarm and uncertainty in the Middle East. As Netanyahu arrives at the UN General Assembly, he dismisses claims of a ceasefire deal.

Benjamin Netanyahu has sought to quash rumours of a ceasefire deal vowing to fight Hezbollah “with full force”. This is in spite of a ceasefire deal tabled by the UK, France and US. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer Urged Britons to leave Lebanon immediately, telling them “the time to leave is now”.

Israeli Ground Invasion Imminent

Israel later implied they’re preparing to deploy ground troops to the country following comments by the IDF’s (Israel’s military) General Herzi Halevi. Addressing troops near the border, he claimed war planes are paving the way for them to enter Lebanon. He later instructed them: “prepare yourselves”.

The military later released a video of Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar telling an audience they’re preparing a “ground manoeuvre”.

Escalating Violence

The French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said the situation on the ground is reaching a point of “no return”.
