A new trailer offers a haunting look into the new vampire film adapted from the 1922 classic.
There are few directors capable of delivering thematic offerings with consistency. One name that comes to mind is Robert Eggers. Initially hesitant about directing this movie, despite being passionate about making it since 2015, his reluctance was later overcome having completed several projects which include ‘The Lighthouse’.
Fast forward nearly a decade, and his ambition to achieve this was realised. ‘Nosferatu‘, is a re-imagining of the horror favourite of the same name and has generated significant buzz.
Fans of the genre are as curious as they are impatient to see it. With the release of a new trailer, anticipation has tremendously increased. It is produced by Regency Enterprises and 1492 Pictures.
Who Does The Film Star?
The film stars several high-profile names including Nicholas Hoult, Lily Rose-Depp and Willem Dafoe. Bill Skarsgård performs as the film’s antagonist, ‘Count Orlok‘, while Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson and others support.
In the promo, we are offered a glimpse into a world of desaturated and proliferating muted colours. True to the director’s style, he continues to enchant us through an array of subtle depths, elevating expectations for the film.
It is interesting that Eggers should choose Nosferatu over Dracula, given that it is an unauthorised adaptation of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent horror classic. Dracula’s enigmatic charm has often proved to be a more marketable and popular choice, given its distinguishable title.
When Is It Released?
The film was initially slated for release in January. However, this appears to have changed with the release of the new trailer; it is now set to premiere at Christmas. It is being distributed by Focus Features.
