Watch The Action Packed Movie Trailer For ‘Love Hurts’

Ke Huy Quan returns to cinemas for the adrenaline-fuelled comedy film from 87North.

A comeback movie, an Oscar and recognition—this is the path Ke Huy Quan has walked to establish himself once again.

The Official Trailer

The multidisciplinary actor, known for iconic roles in The Goonies and Indiana Jones, faded from view after early success.

Fast-forward almost 40 years and he is becoming a household name. Having overcome doubt, and a renewed belief in himself, he takes on the leading role in next year’s film Love Hurts.

What’s The Plot?

The film follows Marvin Gables, who is seemingly living a normal life as a realtor in Milwaukee. He bakes cookies and fluffs his pillows every night until an unsettling envelope arrives. Upon opening the message, it simply reads: “Hiding ain’t living.”

This spooks the gentle protagonist, who reveals himself to be an assassin in hiding after he releases a former target. Not only must he dodge multiple guns-for-hire, but also his ruthless crime-boss brother. This sets off a high-octane series of events complete with martial arts action.

The film is directed by Jonathan ‘JoJo’ Eusebio, a stunt coordinator known for his work on movies including The Fall Guy.

Who Is Starring In It?

The film not only features Quan but also Ariana DeBose (Hamilton, Argylle), Daniel Wu (Westworld, New Police Story) and former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch. Sean Astin will also make an appearance, though his role has not yet been disclosed.

When Is The Movie Due For Release?

It is scheduled to be released 7th February 2025 in cinemas nationwide. It is produced by 87North, known for films including John Wick (Keanu Reeves), Nobody (Bob Odenkirk) and Bullet Train (Brad Pitt).

What Happened To Ke Huy Quan?

His career took a sharp nosedive as work became limited for Asian actors. In an interview, he said: “In my late teens and early twenties, when it was extremely difficult for me to get a job, I never blamed anybody. I thought I was not good enough.”

Oscars speech

At age 23, Quan quit acting to study film at the University of Southern California, specialising in camerawork. He later auditioned for the role of ‘Waymond Wang’ in the Academy Award winning film Everything Everywhere, All At Once, for which he won ‘Best Supporting Actor’. This opened up a world of opportunities leading him to a thriving theatrical renaissance.
