Hip-hop will always be his primary source of inspiration, and fans of his game will be excited by recent news.
The rhyme maestro opened up about his philosophy for music, stating, “It’s easier to stay true to yourself than constantly change for others’ expectations. There’s real truth in that.” This has been a constant theme throughout the lyricist’s 35 years in rap.
He emerged as a force to be reckoned with, scaring everyone in the game with a formidable talent for raw and unadulterated music, adding, “I’ve always adhered to ‘you’re now about to witness the strength of street knowledge.”
Album Title and Who It Features
The NWA member announced he will drop a new album, the follow-up to his acclaimed 2018 release, Everythang’s Corrupt.
Yesterday, Cube revealed the name of his upcoming project, titled Man Down. A legend in his own right, he has consistently published music of a high calibre with strong focus on the gangster subgenre.
Jackson commented on his latest foray, priming listeners for a worth the wait experience. In a statement, he said: “The album my fans have been waiting on,” Cube captioned his social media post regarding his 11th album. “MAN DOWN drops on 11/22, pre-save the album now.”
His new batch of fresh music will feature veterans, including Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, B-Real, E-40, Too Short, Xzibit, Busta Rhymes and Killer Mike. There is even a cameo from Mike Epps and others.
Album Artwork
In an interview, the mogul expressed his wish to resurrect the golden era of hip-hop, channeling some of his earlier work as part of the cover art.
Reflecting on a journey to interpret this conceptual project, he divulges details about it in a behind-the-scenes video (above). In it, he expresses how the artwork needed to convey authenticity, a hint at what’s to come.
What’s It Sound Like?
In true Cube fashion, the razor-mouthed rapper casually delivers a tremendous series of rhymes. It’s My Ego, the lead single from the West Coast artist’s new long play characteristically features a bout of familiar instrumental sets, including organ plays and classic snares.
Through his idiosyncratic vocals, the Grammy Award winner’s distinct flow and cadence is a gleaming note of reference that is sure to pull in loyal fans.
New Music and Video
Through a classic vibes approach, it will surely cater to the latest trend of a love for the 90s. Old-school fans disillusioned by contemporary works will welcome this latest round of OG rap.
The video is an immensely comedic outing, stroking nostalgia and shows another way to capture visuals. Its director of photography, Corey Jennings, understood well what is at stake, having been able to summon stunning cinematographic elements that fuse with the song’s motif.
Track List and Release Date
The album is slated for release on Friday November 22nd, 2024. It will be available to stream on all major platforms including Apple, Tidal and Spotify.
As well as digitally, it will be available as a vinyl pressing, and on CD (including signed copies), all of which will ship in early 2025.
