Up-tempo hip-hop track from Muddy Waters Too exhibits the rapper’s eminent style.
Messy, dirty and rugged is the way Redman hammers out his music. The hip-hop hero returns two days after the release of his album Muddy Waters Too, dropping new song Im On Dat B******t.
There’s no shortage of bangers on this project, and once again we are in for a ride. It’s another high-octane track by the lyrical ace in the hole, with three and a half minutes of nod your head music.
What It Sounds Like
With production from Teak For Hallway, the Newark native continues to drop his signature fire-flow. Styled with a blended haphazardness and gusto, Reggie triumphs through the utilisation of an eccentric motif, something guaranteed on every one of his albums.
His performance is of a learned level, and it’s a skill he acquired early on in his career. This energetic philosophy has helped accentuate what the rapper has to say. This time around, a hurried production melded with a stylistically crisp delivery enhances the profile of the song’s excited wordplay.
Dealing with everyday affairs, (and by that, we mean the title of the song), Red manages to encapsulate both the banal and pressing issues of society. From passwords being discovered by girlfriends, to loans and police encounters, Noble covers societal happenings with humourous outcomes.
Verdict
Im On Dat B******t thrives under the pageantry of the rapper’s timbre. Equipped with a keep of belligerent rhyme schemes, his 32-strong song treasure chest of quintessential verbal venom is sure to keep us coming back.
It’s his charm and wit that gets us every time. Who can hate on Redman when his game has never slowed down? There’s a reason he’s considered one of the best lyricists, and examples like this raise the bar for up and coming wordsmiths.
Rappers are often self absorbed with their own style and take themselves too seriously. The Funk Doctor provides a counter to this, and sustains the other side of the coin for when things go stale in mainstream hip-hop. And that happens a lot.
Where to Stream
