Important hip-hop release could be a turn the tables moment in rap music.
Exciting news has just been revealed by two of rap’s finest artists. Yasiin Bey and The Alchemist (Alan Maman) have announced they will drop a fresh album together titled – Forensics.
The pair released new music in November, but it is unclear whether it will feature on the project. The latter half of this year hosted an explosive finale for hip-hop, and 2025 is set to continue the trend with fresh sounds from some legendary names.
What to Expect
Formerly known as Mos Def, Bey is lauded as one of the greatest lyricists of all time. His portfolio consists of exciting solo work including frequent collaborations with Talib Kweli for the group, Black Star.
Over the years, the rapper has demonstrated countless examples of variation in flow, and dexterity. Within the hip-hop community, his vocal timbre is as distinct as his bars. Even the uninitiated will be aware of far-reaching tracks like ‘Oh No’ featuring Nate Dogg and Pharoahe Monch.
Bey is known for his influential album Black on Both Sides, which featured the smash hit Ms. Fat Booty. His most recent 2022 album, No Fear of Time with Black Star, frustrated fans due to restricted access on the podcast network ‘Luminary’.
Equally, The Alchemist has produced several notable long plays, including a recent project with Roc Marciano. Thanks to their formative years in the 1990s, both artists are in-demand right now.
Where to Stream Their Music
Maman’s albums are available via streaming services (Spotify, Apple Music) including recent collaborative music alongside Roc, as well as the single, Ferraris in the Rain with Schoolboy Q. He recently expressed interest in working with Young Thug on a jazz-inspired album.
Earlier this month, Bey released a new EP titled Money Christmas, which is available for purchase on Bandcamp. The Alchemist also dropped a fresh track titled, Floppy Disks.
Release Date
The album is scheduled to debut live at La Trianon, Paris, January 25th, 2025. Tickets to attend the reveal are now on sale purchase online via Dice.
