The gaming company and brickwork toymaker have formally revealed plans to unite their creative minds in 2026
Last updated: August 4th 2025
After years of waiting, The Pokemon Company and Lego have finally decided to work on a project that is every trainer’s dream. Both companies struck a multi-year deal that will see the two forge a partnership that has long been anticipated.
What products will they release?
Despite little detail announced, a teaser video reveals the tail of a brick-made Pikachu tail electrifying everything around it, including The Pokemon Company (TPC) and Lego’s logo.
We can potentially rule out and speculate what may actually be released, given the companies’ long tradition of licensing agreements.
Historically, TPC has been reserved in licensing, with only a handful of companies making the cut for their stringent guidelines. This pattern follows Nintendo’s business dealings and showcases a reluctance to branch out.

However, things might be changing as, in the past two years, the gaming giant has sought to subtly overhaul its line-up, opting to ditch its simplistic retro style of gaming in favour of a more up-to-date aesthetic. This can be seen in the transition from the shallow-dimensional optics from Sword & Shield to their more recent gaming experience in Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. The card game has also seen a different output, as we now see a more stripped-back and accessible digital version of TCG following the release of Pokémon Pocket.
So, what does this mean? Potentially, when thinking of already existing arrangements, we could see augmented reality come into play. The teaser trailer hints at an interactive element, and it could be, trainers could soon battle brick Pokemon against each other via a mobile device. Perhaps you may also be able to buy accessories that will adapt your adorable mon’s abilities.

Commenting on their new collaboration, they remarked “…both have a long history of pushing the boundaries of social play,” and that “innovative and groundbreaking collaboration that will surprise and delight fans.” So perhaps we will get something similar after all.
What have LEGO and The Pokémon Company said?
In true corporate political teaser-esque form, the two were rather coy on what is to come. Though they did drop some hints and acknowledged the long wait from fans of both franchises’ desire to connect the dots of each product. LEGO Group’s Chief Product & Marketing Officer, Julia Goldin, said: “We are thrilled to be working with a brand that has such a deep and passionate fanbase as Pokémon, partnering to give our joint audiences what they have been asking us for.”
Equally, TPC’s Chief Product and Experience Officer, Gaku Susai, said: ““The LEGO Group and Pokémon have strong shared values of imagination, creativity and fun, making this the perfect partnership to deliver unique, meaningful and engaging ways for Trainers to experience the Pokémon brand.“
When will it be released?
New products are scheduled to be released next year, 2026.
