Crisp new UK hip-hop record revives the art of straight rhyme.
Isaiah Dreads heads up a wickedly fluent pen to mic game, as he augments the work of UK music label, Lifelong Records. His latest endeavour is new single, Evergreen, a tremendous vocalisation in expressive rhyme.
Evergreen Sounds Like Real Skill
No fluff, we get straight bars on a GG Peney track, highlighting the production skills of one of the best beatsmiths in the game. Building through bricks of slow percussion and bass, samples of woodwind instruments against a melodious tempo steer the ship in the right direction. It sows a sonic seed through a fiery verse with showmanship last heard a couple of decades ago – albeit for freestyles.
Not only does the rapper instigate a catwalk of waxing lyrical, but an outlet for a stylistically smooth flow.
It’s a true knock on the door to another form of verbiage lacking in contemporary hip-hop, and it’s a real no brainer in adding it to your playlist.
