The DC superhero makes his comeback, but looks like a poor, tired caricature of himself
James Gunn‘s new Superman trailer dives deeper into what he promises will be an unstale take on the iconic DC superhero.
There’s been an enormous amount of criticism of this iteration of the comic book character’s renewal, with some questioning whether the director can bring the Kryptonian back from the brink of irrelevance.
Trailer Reaction
As you’d expect, all the usual elements of Clark Kent’s life are present, including his adoptive parents and Louis Lane. But wait, there’s a canine friend? That’s right, Krypto the dog makes an appearance.

From a personal point of view, I will reserve judgment until l see this film in the cinema, but for now, it looks like a mediocre attempt – though I hope to be pleasantly surprised.
What’s the CGI Like?
It’s 2025, and CGI appears to be rolling back the years to college-level learning ambition.
By now, I expected an unshakeable confidence in special effects, but it seems studio pacing outweighs the need for artistic portrayal.
Nevertheless, we still hope for the Absolute Superman version, whenever that may come. But for now, let’s chew on some summer blockbuster…hopefully.
