Stepping into the countryside, LeoStayTrill is back for a fresh bout of bragging rights. With a slick music video to match his new single, Naturally Me, we’re greeted by a somewhat familiar sound.

This time, the South-East London artist asks for more respect from a scene he believes he is on top of.

What Naturally Me Sounds Like

The track is a smooth listen, offering fans something to further engage the music. Pitched-up snares aid the rapper to explore a method of dispatching rhymes and they’re calculated and slick—ubiquitous and stale.

There’s no question he’s consistent and stays the course, furnishing fans through sonic continuity. But is there something missing, or is there too much of the same?

As we continue into the new drop, it’s evident the flow and content isn’t as described. It sounds both elementary and polished; fans need something more. Words carry their own weight, and this is evidenced in the components of a two-verse track like:

“…that they saying my name, should have done it like Destiny’s Child.”

Perhaps it’s time commercial UK rap pursued a stylistic quality that avoids herd mentality.

The Verdict

While it’s professionally deployed, it’s nowhere near exquisite. Without knowing who’s being played, it’ll be hard to determine who he is amongst a sea of same-same-but-different rappers.

How to Stream it

The track is available to stream as part of the rapper’s new EP Home Alone on Apple, YouTube Music, and Spotify.

LeoStayTrill is also scheduled to perform in Manchester, Birmingham and London. Tickets are available via Livenation.
