The New York rapper and Conductor Williams resurrect the spirit of hip-hop
Last updated: June 6th 2025
We all heard the terrific exploits of the duo on Rule 4080, and it’s this same stylistic explosion that sees the two continue in the same vein. Rome Streetz (real name Jerome Allen) and Conductor Williams (born Denzel Williams) are back with more of the same, laying down coal to start a fire with.
Armed with a natural flair for relaying movie screenplays in diaristic form, the double act produces pure hip-hop for us to lather in our ears.
What Trainspotting Sounds Like
It’s grimy, laden with eclectically moreish music featuring heavy volumes of sampled beats. The production simmers early with heat that persists late into the project and sounds like a steamroller with teeth.

Trainspotting sets its rhythm to the blasting anthem of Andre Agassi, with Streetz setting the tone to twanging strings where he spits: “Light up ya favourite turn him to a pack of rapper weed.”
Throughout the experience, we’re showered with a sampled ad-lib: “Conductor, we have a problem,” nodding to the preservation of pure hip-hop in its prime. Make no mistake: these two dance to their own tune and take no prisoners over fluidly controlled lyrics that obliterate any thought of questioning the rapper’s skill.

It’s like the explicit fantasia of rap — both melodiously enchanting and hardcore. The rapper possesses an innate ability to discuss life’s hardships while also making the bling culture sound respectable. This is a skill lost on many, who often go to extremes at either end of the spectrum.
“Double doe to hustle left the cuttie with a runny nose” – Rome Streetz
The album is definitely a pitch to the genre: change or stay out of their way, while the venomous fingertips of Williams blow poison darts through the vocals of Allen. Sonically, the music feels authentic, and it recaptures a long absent movement of penmanship.
It strikes a perfect balance and doesn’t overwhelm the listener. This opens up room for curation; just as a rhythm is established, we get verses from Method Man and Jay Worthy.
The Verdict
Trainspotting is a vivid and texturally satisfying listen. With a steadfast focus, Rome Streetz and Conductor Williams have perfectly examined what fans and casual listeners want and how they consume it. Yet, in no way does this album feel forced; it’s an invitation, one asking you to ditch the autotune and embrace artistry. It’s another New York rap triumph.
The Culture Speaks
Social media users are abuzz with the new release. Redditors exclaimed: “We’re so f**king back,” one wrote. Another simply said it’s “Insane already.” On Instagram, fire emojis are in plenty supply, while the album’s producer chimed in to say, “Food ready y’all— let’s eat!”
