The rapper goes direct on former lover with fresh music
Cardi B (born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar) has released her latest single, ‘Outside,’ letting loose a volcano of words against rapper and ex-husband Offset.
Her first drop of the year fires off shots, drawing attention to their marriage. They’re currently separated and working through divorce proceedings.
New Song Sounds Familiar
Produced by Charlie Heat and HeyMick, it features a mallet-esque melody, with a throwback to a certain Southside track. It’s a bold comeback but will likely wear thin as time goes by.
The pre-chorus preps her assault of Offset, where the rapper laments: “Low-down, good-for-nothing dirty dogs, I’m convinced (Uh-huh), Can’t wait to see your mama, tell her how she raised a b***h.”
There’s a focus on flow and ferocity, with an overture to a vaguely similar anthem: David Banner‘s smash hit Like a Pimp.
Why Are Cardi B and Offset Beefing?
Catalysed by a thematic engine of resilience, these bars take aim directly at her ex-husband. Almánzar has accused Cephus of emotional abuse, infidelity and neglect of their family.

She also alleges that both he and his mother stole from her, and that he has refused to buy their children gifts, claiming he has opted to provide for his other kids from previous relationships.
The Verdict
While I’m not a fan of the rapper, I can admit she has made a crater-sized hole in the game. Does it have staying power? Time will tell.
While the track gets personal, it’s lacking the impact of Cardi’s previous music. As a diss track, it’s missing the ingredients for that killer blow.
That said, you can’t fault her passion and drive to nail the face behind the crosshairs. Will Offset fire back?
