The crazy yellow character SpongeBob gets animated again for a new Nickelodeon movie

SpongeBob SquarePants is returning o our screens in another movie for the cinema. The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants features a range of funny quotes, quips, and memeable content.

We tag along with the rice crispy square looking character on a journey to the deepest darkness depths of the ocean. Why? In an attempt to prove his bravery to Mr Krabs, SpongeBob decides that’s the best way to do it.

This leads him to a face off with television series antagonist The Flying Dutchman played by Mark Hamill.

Rejoining the team is Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy), and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton).

Release Date

The film is slated for a 19th December 2025 release.

It was originally set to release in May but was pushed back due to the SAG‑AFTRA strikes. It will be distributed by Paranount Pictures and Nickelodeon.
