The UK rapper returns fire at Joyner Lucas with a follow up diss track
Last updated: July 20th 2025
Skepta is back in a perfectly timed way to zap focus from Joyner Lucas— on the day of his album release. Now that, is stealing someone’s thunder. But is it all hot air? Let’s jump in.
Round 2 is a Decent Battle Track
Round 2 opens with a classic football chant used at matches by all supporters, though the British rapper turns the gun on Lucas, with a potent opener discerning a difference in cultures.
“What do we think of Joyner? (Sh**!)
What do we think of sh**? (Joyner!)”
He then stampedes into a diatribe carried by an up-tempo delivery over a clashing beat where he goes to a place of belittling his skill: “You took a week for the weakest diss”…“Gave it to you on a plate, man, you know me, I’m reckless.”

It’s furious, angry, energised, but tempered by naivety. The MC is off beat, languishing towards the end as he sounds exhausted, and ultimately — gaudy. Though there are some juicy lines, it’s still missing that fatal blow.
The Verdict
Is it good? It’s a pointless exercise demanding respect for his accent, but it isn’t going to move the needle in his favour. There’s no debate, no one cared before and no one certainly does now.
Skepta’s “purpose” has moved focus away from more talented rappers and has unfairly put the spotlight on artists who just want to make music.
While laugh out loud lines like “Tory don’t care he was beating you senseless,” are probably leaving Lucas with a pit in his stomach, we still need a knock out punch.
Skepta’s discography isn’t the best, but when he clashes, my oh my, does he touch a nerve. He needs to bring this style to an albums
