Hundreds and thousands of people are dying in Gaza and wider Palestine of a man-made famine — here’s what you can do to help
Last updated: July 25th 2025
If we can accept that the Holodomor was a man-made famine, then we must accept that the same thing is taking place now. There is no denying that the Israeli blockade in Gaza is a work of terror — an artificial famine, crafted by the Israeli occupation forces.
It is nothing short of a military operation, blending psy-ops and misdirection to prolong a ruthless genocide that will echo beyond historical narrative.
Its chief orchestrator, Benjamin Netanyahu, has leveraged the Holocaust to rally collaborators to instil fear across the world. Who stands with Palestine? We can argue there are many allies, but the reality is, no cavalry is coming to reprimand Israel’s crippling force. What can we do in the meantime? Plenty.
The Numbers
The Al-Aqsa Hospital has reported that 600,000 people are now suffering from malnutrition, including 60,000 pregnant women.

The Israeli government has deliberately blocked aid from entering Gaza, despite a huge stockpile of food in nearby Egypt. The United Nations’ agency UNRWA, asserts there is more than 3 months’ worth of aid waiting for Palestinians, though this is being forcefully withheld by the Tel-Aviv regime.
When Gazans do manage to access it, they queue for hours and are systematically killed while waiting. So far, more than 1,000 Palestinians have been gunned down in what the UN calls “sadistic death traps.”
Alex de Waal is the executive director of the World Peace Foundation at Tufts University and an expert on famines worldwide. He says that this is not just physical, “it’s mental.”
Talking to Al Jazeera, he says that starvation is not only a criminal violation, but an act of asserting dominance: “It dehumanises and degrades the sufferer…It’s the experience of – and then the memory of – having searched through garbage for food and everything you have done to survive.”
“Israel has had ample and stark warnings that its actions are leading to mass starvation. This should surprise no one.”
“This isn’t just about starving kids. It’s about dismantling a society and reducing its people to desperate, starving victims,” de Waal added. “It also encourages the abuser to think of the sufferer as dehumanised, so it becomes self-justifying.”
Targeted Snubs
Many claim that you cannot boycott everything — so here’s the answer: targeted boycotting. If your friends and peers use this age-old defence, you can turn it around to keep them in check.
The chief agitators of the genocide are heavily sponsored by American goods. With the backlash mounting against many US-based companies in effect (largely due to Donald Trump’s presence in the White House), toppling them — or making things difficult for them — is now much easier. Here’s what you do:
- Choose 3 – 5 brands: Ideally, boycott everyone.
- That’s it. It’s effortless.
Now, you may be wondering who to avoid; we’ve got you covered.
Who to Boycott
There are plenty of companies to snub with better alternatives on the market. If you find yourself coveting a particular brand, then that’s either a) the branding/marketing brainwashing you (don’t be weak), or b) the sugar in the product talking.

Write to Your MP
Your Member of Parliament hates it when the numbers show up for a particular cause. They fear losing their seat at the next election — and with millions now showing support for Gaza and wider Palestine, your voice counts. You can find out who your local MP is here, along with a letter template you can customise.
BDS also provides materials calling for sanctions, which you can find here.
Protest
Regular protests are organised around the world. Tomorrow in London (Friday 25th July 2025), the Palestine Solidarity Campaign has organised a nationwide day of action for protestors to lay a pot for every person killed by the Israeli Occupation Forces, queuing for aid.
Donate
There are many NGOs and charities you can donate to should you wish to do more. They include MAP (UK based medical aid charity), Gaza based HEAL Palestine (providing education and aid to children in the country), Decolonize Palestine (online resources dedicated to education tools on Palestinian history), MED Global (medical relief), and Restless Beings (grassroots organisation providing food packs and medical aid).
