Silver Gore – Dogs In Heaven (Official Music Video)

The duo, comprised of vocalist Ava Gore and instrumentalist Ethan P. Flynn, were inspired by childhood memories of the movie All Dogs Go to Heaven, especially the vocalist who says she obsessively watched it.

Dogs In Heaven is a Musical Anthem for Us All

Speaking on the song, the two said: “We set out to make a song based around exactly how we’re feeling in a moment,”… “Every decision then grows from that emotion; whether it’s the lyrics or the drum sound. We try to document it exactly how it is in the moment.”

Released via Island Records, the song is a poignant reminder of the memories we leave behind as children, and while many may see this as a quiet relic it dips into undertones of experiences that shape us as we age.

Ava further explained the depth of the track: “I spent lots of hours alone, watching this film with our family dog,”… “This song is about making decisions and the unexpected consequences that come from them.”

The video, directed by Ben Cole, employs a surreal and sensory experience as the two jam out to a visceral motivation they deconstruct. It features spotlights and surreal moments brought to life by their experiences, including an appearance of a seemingly giant canine, as snow rains down around them.

Verdict

It’s a catchy and thoughtful single deserving of our attention. Not only are the vocals enchanting and elegant, but the instrumentals offer a kindred cycle of beautiful sound. Silver Gore capture the essence of their message, one that serves as both a bridge between trauma and healing.
