The New York rapper took to social media to vent his frustrations with Columbia Records
Joey Bada$$ (real name Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott) has taken to Instagram live to set the record straight on his new album. In the video, he claims the fresh project has been delayed, despite it being “signed, sealed & delivered over a month ago.” His reason for the hold up? According to him — his label.
Joey Blames Columbia Records
On social media, the rapper went on a diatribe blaming his record company Colombia Records (a subsidary of Sony) for the hold up. The album, Lonely at the Top, was due for release yesterday. Joey took to the Meta platform to explain the delay:
“My sh** got pushed back because the label pushed my sh** back.”…“This ain’t because of no sample clearances, this ain’t because of no features, this ain’t because of no clashing with another artist on the date. This is literally an Exhibit A of the label getting in the artist’s way.”

Scott also noted there’s a reason why he has only dropped music on YouTube as opposed to streaming, highlighting that: “I ain’t got time to wait on nobody.”
“I’m signed to Colombia Records, but I just don’t be f***ing with them” “…all they do is get in my way, they really don’t contribute to nothing.”
Fan Reaction
Most fans have been supportive and for the most part say: “free Joey,” while one fan exclaimed : “Nas was on Columbia remember & he had to drop a greatest hits to count as an album to try & get off..”
However, some spectators see it a different way. In the livestream, some called him scared, with one internet user saying: “Ray Vaughn smoked you,” while another quipped: “He scared of yeat and metro.”
