It’s clear her talent is an intrinsic part of her identity, something she alludes to in the flawless nature of her songwriting. The track itself, is produced by Likkle Jay and Marceli — tempered by warping basslines and crisp snares — providing George with a satiny finish to land each line into a downy vocal brace, one that is resonantly impactful.

Verdict

It will be fascinating to hear what else she has up her sleeve. Considering this is only her first release of the year, it’s explosively assertive and a rare gem from the industry.

Fluid-heavy, soft enough to cut, yet able to float upwards, Monifé chisels an ode to resilience and fighting one’s limits. This is clear from the get-go and after several listens, I’ve realised just how infectious it is.
