His crisp, razor-like vocals are catching the attention of many, filled with a branch of crunchy, memorable production notes. But enough talk! Let’s chat with the man of the hour and find out more. This is your chance to say you knew before your knew.

Villyy – Head 2 Toe (Official Music Video)

Looking back at the start of your music career, what was the point of no return for you?

“My first entry into the scene was with two of my Close friends as a group called 8TEEN, we put our heads down and started to release consistently and started to see the results from radio play to other artists reaching out and seeing how our fan base was growing — that’s what made me think it’s possible to reach the height that I want to get to”.

What connections do you see between your sound and non-music activities?

“The connections between both is my lifestyle, the trials and tribulations, the happy moments, certain sports I’m into will be incorporated into its wordplay and clothing and fashion etc.”

What part of your profession will no one understand?

“It’s a bit cliché but your mood determines what music you make. I think, for some that don’t do music — they’ll think you can go in the studio and just make a happy song when you’re not in the mood”

What parts of your work do you consider to be inspired by where you live?

“Literally, all parts are inspired by it — it’s where I can add certain stories or situations I’ve been around or heard about I can add, even down to lingo and the way we are as people from that area.”

Where do you write your best lines?

“I find I write the best lyrics on the spot when I’m sat infront of the mic.”

Looking back, what regrets do you have?

“Not releasing consistently and not having structure and fully sticking to plans which I’m currently getting into now.”

What plans for your music will surprise your listeners?

“More collabs on the way, projects, and movie like content.”

What’s the story behind your artist name?

“It started off with everyone calling me ‘Villain’ in my circle, and now in my estate. Then, as I grew up, somehow, everyone started calling me VILLYY, I couldn’t tell you how, but if you grew up in a close knit neighbourhood where nicknames get dished out all the time.”

Hypothetical scenario: you’re in an elevator with someone who will love your music, but hard to convince. You’ve got no phone battery, and no way to play it. What do you tell them?

“Imagine if the soundtrack to your favorite late-night drive and the energy of a packed Friday night show had a baby—that’s the world my music lives in. It’s emotional, but it’s not soft; it’s got hooks that stay in your head, but with production that makes you feel it in your chest. If you’ve ever wanted music that makes you both move and think, that’s exactly what I make. Give me one shot in your playlist I’ll earn the repeat button.”

Which of your tracks is your favourite and why?

“My favourite song personally is fantasy, just the way I recorded the song in my friends apartment makes me listen to it with a different ear it can never get boring. Also the subject of the whole song is relevant to a lot of of guys and girls of my generation.”
