New trailer unveils explosive visuals for The Mandalorian and Grogu film — providing plot and character insights

Disney have revealed the new trailer for their upcoming blockbuster Star Wars movie: The Mandalorian and Grogu. The film is a continuation of the hit TV series and features all the bells and whistles you’d come to expect from the franchise. We dive into what the fans are saying, plus more.
The Plot
Following on from his lone roots as a bounty hunter, Din Djarin and his apprentice Grogu take on the galaxy in what appears to be an explosive bout of space conflict and covert missions. Other than that, specifics about the plot are being kept under wraps, though we get some insight from what the teaser shows us.
The creator, Jon Favreau, has confirmed the feature will build on the television series rather than follow a standalone story. This allows audiences to get up to speed with the saga before it lands next year, and of course, tap new viewers for the future. But, not everyone is happy about this direction.
Casting
Of course, everyone’s favourite actor of the moment, Pedro Pascal, is set to star; he is supported by Jeremy Allen White (who plays Jabba’s relative, Rotta the Hutt), Sigourney Weaver, and Jonny Coyne in the role of an Imperial Warlord.
Fans Are Not Happy
The first thing most fans correlated was Disney’s ABC debacle with Jimmy Kimmel, one said: “Disney Execs: “Everyone stop talking about Jimmy Kimmel! Look at the shiny new Star Wars movie!” and “Cancelling Disney+? This is the way.”
Another humourously chimed in, saying: “Thanks for leaving the comments section open. It’s much more entertaining than this trailer.”
Many believe the title of the movie is more marketing fluff than pertinent to the film’s storyline; this has made some worry that it will lack depth. Focusing on the show’s continuity doesn’t allow new audiences to understand the script, and could lead some executives to false conclusions regarding the intellectual property’s value and performance.
Others believe the effects were not convincing: “That AT AT falling down had PS3 era CGI.” This is a noticeable takeaway from the trailer — one that may harm the saga’s legacy. If it’s not up to spec online, it will quickly age.
