Florence + the Machine prepare to release their October album, treating fans to a classic hallmark of their sound

Florence + The Machine return following a short break, releasing their new single One of the Greats. The track was unveiled alongside a music video, one where we see Florence Welch open up about the creative process.

This time, it’s rather direct chronicling the constructs of creativity, as well as the tainted troubles that arise with it.

She’s optimistic, yet unafraid to bare her vulnerability amid the trials of harbouring such emotional toils. Clocking in at five minutes long, you get what you pay for through a slow-burn diary supported by operatic aesthetics and guitars that chip away, along with slow bang drums.

Her vocals open to a haunting, yet recollective performance — and, though she is similar in tonality, one could liken this specific delivery to the talents of Grace Slick.

Whether that is deliberate or not, it doesn’t matter — the songwriting, presentation, atmosphere, is all quite brilliant. The track is taken from her upcoming album, Everybody Scream, and is slated for a 31st October 2025 release.
