Swedish rappers Yung Lean and Bladee unveil new music titled “Evil World”, though it sounds like a delayed April Fool’s
Rap’s definition, it seems, has been severely malnourished of late. With a difficult-to-stomach sound masquerading as hip-hop, the culture seems to be inundated with a herd of rappers hiding behind the word artist. Meet Yung Lean and Bladee — two such musicians who fall into this category.
Review and Verdict
The bar, it seems, is low — a tumbleweed of words mashed together. Their latest offering, titled “Inferno”, is an extended play featuring the songs Evil World and Advent. Make no mistake, they sound like the work of people who were never given notes.
The delivery is dispatched against compositions that are, okay — but nothing to write home about. However, their vocal performances lack uniformity, style and, overall, are amateur and unrehearsed. At best, this is Ross Geller and his keyboard.
