DMX is partying up in here again with IDK on new song “Start To Finish”
IDK has dropped an energising new track featuring the posthumous vocals of DMX. Titled Start To Finish (S.T.F.), it features the Ruff Ryders leader, who once again commands a punishing presence. The video, shot in London, matches the music’s up-tempo speaker-crushing disposition — and it’s exciting, yet marred by one major flaw.
“Start to Finish” Review and Verdict
Produced by Kaytranada, it’s a gripping listen filled with the hope that we’re going to get a fresh Dark Man X verse. But it’s a limited feature, with IDK dominating the entire song — dispatching a driven inflection and a dance floor-worthy track.
It’s phenomenal until it abruptly ends with a profligate runtime. I feel a little short-changed by this — we need a posse cut remix or an extended version, because two minutes isn’t right for a feature of such stature. Everything fits the mode of Simmons’ style, he lays down a great chorus. But if a longer variation isn’t on the cards, this feels like a waste of X’s vocals.
