Killing of 20-year-old triggers dangerous driving investigation. Ghetts held without bail

The Metropolitan Police have charged rapper Ghetts (real name Justin Jude Clarke-Samuel) with a fatal hit and run incident that took place on the 18th October 2025 in Ilford, east London.

Footage emerged online of the rapper driving beyond the speed limit, hitting a 20-year-old man in his vehicle on Redbridge Lane East. It has now been confirmed as a hit-and-run.
Initially, Samuel was charged by with dangerous driving, but this was later changed to ‘serious injury by dangerous driving’ after appearing at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on the same day the deceased was pronounced dead in hospital.
The charge is expected to be adjusted to ‘death by dangerous driving’ when he appears at his next court hearing on the 27th October at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court.
Ghetts has remained in custody and has been refused bail. Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to make themselves known.
