Far-right Reform UK attempt to gaslight British politics with extremist rhetoric
Let’s set the scene: a caller on TalkTV calls in to the show to complain that the demographics of TV advertising do not reflect the nation. Sarah Pochin, a Reform MP for Runcorn & Helsby, replied: “It drives me mad when I see adverts full of black people, full of Asian people,” before adding, “It doesn’t reflect our society, and I feel that your average white person, average white family is… not represented anymore”
Nigel Farage Responds with Cowardly Dodge
Now, Reform UK have claimed this does not constitute racism. Actually, Nigel Farage, it does. An aversion to Black and Asian people is, in fact, an irrational reaction to another race and therefore can be classified as such.
We already know that the party is an xenophobic cluster of bigotry and vitriol, so when Nigel Farage responds with comments such as: “Taken literally, you can put the worst of all interpretations on it”, and, “If I thought the intention was deliberately and genuinely racist, I would have taken a lot more action.” only, it was literal. How can this be anything but a literal interpretation?

His response was to call it”ugly” and stop short of any action. This doesn’t surprise me, given his aversion to immigration, Brexit, and his admiration for Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. Even his own party chair resigned over Sarah Pochin’s question about whether the burqa should be banned. So now we have racism, xenophobia, religio-phobia, and an irrational, illogical focus on a bogeyman rather than coherent politics. Do us a favour you sickos — stand down.
