Chy Cartier & Lil Yachty’s latest release has been teased for some time, but does it live up to the hype?
Strangely, Chy Cartier (real name Chyna Dacrie) and Lil Yachty (Miles Parks McCollum) work well together. Due to the American rapper’s involvement, I expected “2 Easy” to be a low brow effort, but I was surprised. We unpack the duo’s two new tracks.
Review — “2 Easy”
As usual, Cartier kicks up fire and smoke. The sound of this drop is produced to a progressive standard, and it’s a head-bopping, eye-squinting pout crafter. It’s messy, but not in a bad way; the trade of both tracks works because of a freeing ideation, with some deliveries slightly off beat—yet remain weirdly enjoyable.
Easy Peasy sees the two run the gauntlet, with the UK spitter licking shots, that is — until her US counterpart emerges, bleeding out the gut in full robot persona. The production is tight, layered with a mesh of sounds, but it’s 50% there.
Here We Go Again is the real star of the show, and McCollum ups his delivery—though the construct of his songwriting is still far off. Dacrie works it again, this time slightly relaxing her flow, and together, the two finally locate their chemistry.

Lil Yachty’s vocals are frustratingly past the mark of embrace, thanks to a waft of thick auto-tune — again. Lyrically, I was prepared to take notes, but there’s nothing to document. It gives Cartier the edge, who drops raw vocals over pervasive sounds with a belligerent mix of delivery—and then some.
The Verdict
It’s, of course, worth listening to—but does it have hang time? I suspect not. Music resilience lingers through its ability to transcend eras, and it’s a key reason why rap and hip-hop in recent years holds a slim chance of making it into archives.
Provided there’s a beefy album in the works, Cartier will etch herself into time. But Yachty? He’s a little long in the tooth.
