In June, Jackson wrote on Instagram: “Where did he come from? Whose friend is this? I’m not feeling this plan. No. I will give him $258,750 and a first class one-way ticket away from NY.”
Mamdani responded to Fifty in kind on popular radio show, The Breakfast Club:
“We’re talking about corporations that are making millions of dollars, not in revenue, but in profit.”
“And the second is taxing the top 1% of New Yorkers. We’re talking about people who make a million dollars a year or more, taxing them just by a flat 2% tax increase,”
Public Outcry
Not many people were happy with the Candy Shop artist, with comments like: “Tupac would be ashamed of you” and “Rare 50’s L” being posted. One person responded: “Man pay your 2% and shut up”, while another chimed in: “Rich people would rather elect a sexual predator than pay a little more in taxes”.
Further down the feed, one of Fifty’s followers exclaimed: “How you raised poor and on food stamps and still sell out. Money really the root of all evil …smh” with a fellow social media user responding: “how much you think Mamdani collecting from his voters in NYC”.
