COP30 Is The Official Performance Of Climate Luxury

Saving the world from climate change will be hard when politicians enjoy canapés and alcohol

Get a room and use what you have. We pay thousands in taxes, only for politicians to squander it on free meals in Parliament — despite most lawmakers being millionaires — while the most vulnerable struggle. Instead, elected officials are paying to fly to COP30 on private jets at the expense, with little regard for the outcomes.

Private jets and the inequalities of Climate Change.

Governmental departments already use end-to-end encrypted platforms, with far superior connection speeds with customisable VPNs and firewalls. Their dedicated hardware ensures signal redundancy — so what’s the deal?

Nothing. I’d prefer it if they all just sat down in a room — without their first-class luxuries, which, might I add, increases carbon emissions — where they can maximise their time without travelling with a contingent of staff draining funds that could be spent elsewhere.

Slimey Excuses

Simply put, heading to COP on a state or private plane is the height of hypocrisy and spits in the face of those burdened with the calamitous climate change.

Former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss said:

“It’s really important that we do have people face to face. I think everybody who’s ever done a Zoom call knows that they’re quite useful for some things. But when you really get into crunch negotiations, when you want to look somebody in the eye and talk to them face to face, you do need to meet in person. And this is really critical.”

But she would say that — she tanked the economy. Yes, face-to-face meetings are important: when it’s time to talk brass tax. Meet in person when you’ve tabled an agreeable draft agreement, not to sip wine and watch speeches.

Do us a favour: quit lying, wasting the people’s money. We know you enjoy the lifestyle, but this is overkill. It’s a “look-at-me” convention that could save a lot of money for both governments and the United Nations.
