As a new trailer for Emerald Fennell’s upcoming movie is released, fans are recognising that it has distorted the Wuthering Heights story
Wuthering Heights gets a new steamy trailer courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures. The film is an adaptation of the classic novel, but fans are calling it out for its creative liberties.
Plot Differences
The film differs from Emily Brontë’s book in several areas. The first is that Heathcliffe is described in the story as “a dark-skinned gypsy in aspect.” Instead, Jacob Elordi — a white man — was cast in the lead.
Furthermore, the author describes Margot Robbie’s character as being almost seventeen. Which the Australian actress is not.
Then there are the criticisms of the sexually explicit scenes, prompting fans of the book to call out director Emerald Fennell — none of which are mentioned in the classic tale.
Will this be a classic or Hollywood fail?
