Multidisciplinary artist FKA Twigs returns to form with her popular, hypnotic sound for ‘Eusexua Afterglow’
FKA Twigs is back — this time with a follow up successor to its preceding drop. Eusexua Afterglow was presented as a deluxe version of her January outing. However, it is, in fact, a whole new album.
Review: A Surge of Electronic Music Energy
Afterglow is the comedown from Eusexua. It’s a cohesive body of work following patterns of expansive audio. Slushy is one such number that entertains a broad spectrum of melodic encounters, tapping into a mind altering sensory experience.
This smoothly transitions into Wild and Alone featuring PinkPantheress — it feels more like Twigs, and surprisingly, Walker puts in the work beyond her own minimised durations.
The project’s motif finds ways to use allegro snares, parlaying between transitions of up-tempo works to lento songs.
Predictable Girl isn’t the standout track, though becomes understandable when connecting the dots through its video. Sushi switches up once again, with pounding drums and energy chamber synths.
The Verdict
Overall, the album pushes boundaries inspiring further investigation, melding harmonics that effuse an organic approach to the craft. On Eusexua Afterglow, FKA Twigs realises what its predecessor couldn’t do.
The artist sounds in control with a specific agenda. It’s layered with room to breathe over boomy identifiers with a sonic manifesto of quality.
