Ransom & Conductor Williams Warm Up with Quick Drop ‘Bomaye’

Bomaye is a crisp but forced listen, leaving rap fans wondering if their new album is worth the wait

Conductor Williams really is driving the train right now, with some thunderous beats and formidable collaborations. Today he and Ransom drop another banger — ‘Bomaye’.

Review and Verdict

The word Bomaye, meaning “kill him”, was chanted by the crowd in Kinshasa during Muhammad Ali’s 1974 fight, “Rumble in the Jungle,” a title coined by boxing promoter Don King.

Conductor releases pressure from a vent of solid beats, driving forward a semi-drumless production. Their forthcoming collaborative album has piqued our interest, and this new drop has whet our appetite in the hope of a conducive long play.

Though Ransom’s form is off. His feature alongside DJ Premier wasn’t what we hoped for and his flow on Bomaye sounds more Will Smith, with little under the hood except steam. He has immense skill, and he’s still offing rappers by the boatload — but this track does not bode well for his input on the project. Hopefully this is an oversight.
