‘I Wish It Would Rain’ Review and Verdict

Now living in London, Wyn has worked tirelessly to craft the rich sound she is known for. With her distinct crisp and soul rocking vocals, the instrumental depth at play on this fresh release is a sensory party.

In a statement, Nia opened up about the track’s inspiration, and how it came to be:

I Wish It Would Rain pays homage to the old soul songs that talk about the weather not matching how you feel inside. I wrote it during the hot summer months where I was feeling let down by someone – that feeling of always hoping that person has changed over the years but then hit with the disappointment and grief that nothing really has altered.

Working with Paul Weller again on new music has been a dream – I have huge admiration for him as an artist and felt we really clicked in the studio for this track.”

I Wish It Would Rain rolls into action with Wyn’s trademark riffs paired with reverb-laden snares. It tees up the singer’s stirring vocals with a performance that has become a texturally distinguishing mark of her artistry.

Accompanied by a sequence of horn stabs — almost certainly the work of Weller — once again, Wyn has set the bar high with another work of musical excellence.
