Watch: ‘How To Make A Killing’ Movie Trailer Sparks Intrigue

New black comedy film from StudioCanal, Blueprint Pictures, and A24 sees Glen Powell face off against his family in How to Make a Killing

A24 Films have brought us some incredible, mediocre movies. Not everyone will agree with that sentiment but they are, by and large, pretty tame. And now, we seem to have found a potentially enjoyable film ironically starring Hollywood’s latest force-fed actor — Glen Powell.

It’s no surprise it looks good, given the production credits really go to StudioCanal (Inside Llewyn Davis) and Blueprint Pictures (Seven Psychopaths, Three Billboards).

The Plot

How To Make A Killing is loosely based on the 1949 British film Kind Hearts and Coronets (Dir. Robert Hamer), and follows Becket Redfellow (Powell). Disowned at birth by his snooty billionaire family, he believes he’s owed a fortune, a whopping $28 billion inheritance. How does he plan to get it? Knock them off one by one of course.

Casting

Casting choices for the film see the lead joined by Margaret Qualley, Ed Harris, Topher Grace, Jessica Henwick, Bill Camp, and Zach Woods. The film is directed by John Patton Ford (Emily The Criminal).

The Verdict

Given the lead comes straight from the Hollywood conveyor belt, I’m yet to be convinced by Glen Powell. While this film looks intriguing, it could be a case of the ‘trailer is better than the film’ again. We’ll have to wait and see, but I doubt anyone will lose sleep over this.

Release Date

How To Make A Killing is slated for a 20 February 2026 cinematic release.
