New Transformer robot from Robosen needs to do more for us to part with our money
When Robosen first released their exciting new line of Transformers robots, we were overjoyed. Robotic action figures loaded with dreamy features? Sign me up! But the price tag? Nah, uh!
Should You Buy and Verdict
It has everything you can wish for? Not really. Soundwave ships at a hefty price tag — £1299, or £899 on pre-order. With limited features, its recommended retail price likely covers marketing budgets and overheads more than the product.
Is it really worth the price? You get a self-transforming robot with voice activation and a Bluetooth speaker box, all for the cost of a smartphone.
While Hasbro figures generally deliver for collectors, the Robosen line is an extortionate range in need of more features. I’m open to having my mind changed, but from where I’m standing, we’re better off saving our money.
If Hasbro would like us to pay £55 for a Soundwave figure, make it £100 with a Bluetooth speaker and I’m sold! From the way it walks and switches to alt mode is just, very embarrassing. Hard pass.
