When searching for rappers who can step up to the plate, V.I.C is definitely in the conversation. New track “Cole Palmer” has dropped with surging replay value.
Hip-Hop Preservation
Haunted by strings and a flow driven beat, VIC tampers with its sonic foundation through projectiles of fascinating lyrical deliveries.
The wordsmith adds that “Cole Palmer was inspired firstly because I’m a big fan of the football player and his mindset,” and that “the song is about the hustle to reach greatness and speaks from my POV, blocking out the unnecessary noise and focusing on the necessary steps, which for me is doing my writing drill”.
Having performed at both Reading and Leeds Festivals for BBC Introducing, the London-based rapper is recognised for these traits. His presence in the line up, like his cadence, is a bold addition featuring tendrils of entendres matched by an infectious flow. Not only is the song a statement of intent, but an effort to maintain artistry in a world driven by quick wins and vapid substance. Hip-hop deserves resistance to contemporary music’s banality, VIC is part of that charge.
