Andy Serkis satirises classic tale for profit in first look at Animal Farm
Andy Serkis has released the first trailer for “Animal Farm”, his forthcoming 2026 animated movie based on George Orwell’s classic novel of the same name.
The film stars Andy Serkis, Steve Buschemi, Laverne Cox, Woody Harrelson, Glenn Close, Seth Rogen, Kathleen Turner, Jim Parsons, and Kieran Cullen.
The Verdict
Animal Farm is an incredible story that warns against the perils of corruption, dictatorship, and more. When Andy Serkis announced he was to direct an adaptation of the classic tale, my first thought was that it would be a gritty take on the harsh parallels with modern life and current affairs. However, that’s not what we’re getting.
Instead, the Hollywood machine has produced a classic plastic portrayal, one that makes fun of its warnings. The trailer even has the gall to splash “based on the classic masterpiece by George Orwell”, before showing us cheap and tacky CGI animation as well as a twerking pig. What’s next? Ai Weiwei in Fortnite?
Ironically, the lessons of the story are lost on the studio fat cats of the film business.
