Spielberg reveals first teaser trailer and plot for 2026 summer sci-fi blockbuster movie starring Emily Blunt, ‘Disclosure Day’
Last updated: 17th December 2025
Following months of speculation, Stephen Spielberg has revealed the first look at the trailer for his upcoming 2026 sci-fi movie, “Disclosure Day“. A lot of hype has been circulating online following leaks and rumours of its production, and as you’ll find out, much of that was fuelled by extraterrestrial enthusiasts across the internet on forums and podcasts.
The Plot
Universal Pictures announced the trailer today, along with the name of their forthcoming sci-fi movie, Disclosure Day, following discussion about its plot, posing a simple yet largely unexplored question in film media en-masse. The film will chronicle the ideas of what life would be like following the revelation of one of humanity’s biggest questions: “Are we alone in the universe?”.
“If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you?”
The trailer showcases a number of sequences that will appeal to a wide-range of audiences, including car chases, government raids, and a vocal interruption of the film’s protagonist-weather presenter portrayed by Emily Blunt.
Cast and Production Details
Steven Spielberg wrote the story, with David Koepp (Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds) handling the screenplay. Janusz Kaminski (Ready Player One, Catch Me If You Can) returns as cinematographer. Emily Blunt stars alongside Colman Domingo, Colin FIith, Wyatt Russell, Josh O’Connor, and Eve Hewson.
Our Reaction
Hype-meter
While it looks enjoyable, there are only a few things niggling at me. The on-the-nose mid-air interruption of Blunt’s character, and the abysmal-looking CGI (hopefully they tighten that up), are among the few minor irritations. However, the story feels and looks like a solid watch, and I am hopeful it will make it to a theatrical release; streaming would be the nail in the coffin for blockbusters if Spielberg can’t even catch a break.
Release Date
Disclosure Day is slated for a June 12th 2026 release exclusively in theatres.
