Racking up significant streams and views online, fan chatter is taking over social media again. Here’s what you need to know about his new single.

Review and Verdict

The premise of Aperture sees pop-star Harry Styles invite a spark of intrigue, poised for meditation over a lento-style tempo, tapping into themes of openness and vulnerability. With a portfolio widely estranged from his One Direction days, the musician has clearly taken a page out of Robbie Williams’ playbook. Walking his own path, experimenting and meeting the needs of his own creative direction, Harry’s got a flair for the genre space he aspires to control.

On Aperture, the track, produced by long time collaborators Kid Harpoon and Tom Owen-Savage, unwraps a synthy canvas. Though it can be unleashed on the dance floor, it feels flat enough to be forgotten. Styles’ vocals and breath work are controlled and glazed with a signature only he can pull off, though at times it can feel like you’ve heard it all before.
