The Album Artwork Reveal

On the podcast, Swift reveals a briefcase embossed with the letters T.S. She then pulls out a square item, but it’s blurred. The pop singer then confirms what it is, saying: “This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl,” Despite its obscurity, we can still make out green and orange elements in the design. This is followed by the two hosts screaming in joy at the scoop they’ve just witnessed.

Pre-Orders

You can pre-order the album directly from the artist’s website on vinyl and cassette, with the option to buy a poster, too. But, as per the announcement, the artwork is blocked out, though the webstore features an orange lock in its place.

The official release date is yet to be confirmed following a notice on Swift’s official site that reads: “This is not the release date, official release date to be announced.”

What The Life of a Showgirl Will Sound Like

Swift either appears to be moving away from her partnership with Jack Antonoff in favour of Max Martin, responsible for hits including The Weeknd‘s “Can’t Feel My Face“, “Blinding Lights,” and of course Taylor Swift’s own “Blank Space” and “Shake It Off“. This gives us an indication of what to expect, which means we can potentially anticipate a more upbeat vibe and a return to the Pennsylvania-born vocalist’s roots.

Taylor Swift is one of the most successful pop artists of all time.

News of the album follows just months since the release of her last long play, 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department. It comes on the heels of the pop powerhouse reclaiming her master recordings following a long dispute over their ownership.

While there are no songs to listen to, the team behind the music icon have published a playlist titled And, baby, that’s show business for you” — a 22-song strong blend of music produced by Max Martin and Shellback, potentially giving listeners an ear into what it might sound like.

What the Fans are Saying

Obviously, her fans who have come to be known as “Swifties“, are ecstatic. On social media, many thought they were being tricked with the countdown: “Oh dang I was not expecting a real album, thought we were clowning,” while another said: “Honestly, same I fully thought a documentary for the Eras tour, I didn’t get my hopes up.”

Max Martin is responsible for some Swift’s most popular tracks.

Other fans summed up the news much more succinctly: “We get a new album ahhhhhh!” and “Who is losing sleep tonight?” Others wore their heart on their sleeve by simply saying: “Am I allowed to cry?” and “Screaming, crying, cursing in the rain.”
